2013 Recap - CPAC

Well March comes the biggest conservative event in DC, CPAC.  This is one of those events that as a political junkie I go to in order to hear from one side of the political aisle.  This event is NOT  for the faint at heart.  If you believe 100% of what they do you will of course love it...if you are a moderate or independent (like I am) then usually less than 50% of what is said you will agree on platform.  I will say that most of the time I sit in my seat and question what the people are saying and in some cases think they are WAY off in right field.  Of course this is due to me being centrist and having views that both sides are not 100% geared towards with their individual platforms.  I am one of those people that doesn't like to be dictated into my political view but rather gather my own facts independently.

This event had a who's who of the Conservative, mostly far right wing, side of the Republican Party as it usually does.

From the recently defeated GOP nominee for President Willard M. Romney...

To 2016 potential Nominee Jeb Bush....

It also annually attracts the newest attractions of the GOP from Sarah Palin ...

To Ted Cruz.....

It is unique in many ways as the people speaking know their audience.  99% of the audience is not like me but rather student conservative movement leaders, tea party activists, and ultra conservatives.  This is not necessarily a bad thing but in recent years (within last five or so years) this event has also been a haven for rhetoric that has come back to haunt people who are speaking to the masses of people in attendance.

The event also hosts a number of pundits of the Conservative movement from Ann Coulter....

To Dana Loesch...

Of course you will also see people speak there that are not always 100% to the platform of the people they are speaking to....in this case, or should I say in the year prior, on of those people was Donald Trump and his views on the president that garnered attention from the right which they then turned into an invitation to their annual event.

Of course some of the best things about this event for this political junkie is the ability to actually meet, talk to, and get a keepsake from people you have heard on TV, radio, etc.

I look forward to attending this event again in 2014 when it returns to the new home it went to in 2013...National Harbor.
